It has been announced today by HTV that Cable Television viewers in the area are to receive Britain’s first live and local cable TV programming.
The programme will be transmitted on United Artists Communications’ local cable TV network every weekday between 5pm and 7pm on Channel 15. It will feature topical interviews, consumer information, entertainment and public access items, all very much based on local items. The new programme is due to start transmitting in September; it will be available to the 140,000 homes throughout the Avon cable franchise area. The project is being produced by HTV’s new media graduate unit, known as Hybrid TV. David Treadway, United Artists Communications’ Managing Director said, “This project is one of the most innovative ways of bringing a truly local flavour to cable television customers in Avon.”
