Local World appoints new digital product director

Local World has announced the appointment of Mike Goldsmith as digital product director, where he will have an “initial special remit to deliver a world class mobile product.”

Prior to his appointment, Goldsmith worked at Future UK, where he was editor-in-chief for digital editions, and then head of content strategy.

Local World was formed in 2012 by former Trinity Mirror chief executive, David Montgomery, and currently publishes 107 daily titles.

Commenting on his new role, Goldsmith said: “Having great local brands and content is central to strong mobile businesses. Local World is in a great position to deliver that and I’m thrilled to be joining at such an exciting time.”

Matt Kelly, digital director at Local World, added: “I’m delighted to have Mike on the team. Mike has a great deal of expertise in delivering quality digital products, particularly across mobile and tablet, having led the Future Plc app strategy for several years.”

Goldsmith will take on his new role with immediate effect.
