London Business Radio, the consortium between GWR Group, Reuters and Associated Newspapers which has bid for a London AM licence announced yesterday that it intends to take this service nationwide.
The consortium is bidding for an AM licence in Manchester this September, and will follow that with bids for licences in all major business and financial centres throughout Britain.
The service will provide information on company, industry and economic news, personal finance and the stockmarket. Each station will have its own newsroom and will lead on its own regional news.The Chairman of London Business Radio, John Parcell, commented, “Our research has proved beyond reasonable doubt that a market exists in London for such a service and it is clear that the same will be true on a national basis.”
Local share holders will be sought for the regional licence applications.
The Radio Authority hopes to announce the results of the London licences in September.
