London Cable Station Bidders

London Cable Station Bidders

London Interconnect, a consortium of London based cable operators (previously known as LACOS – key 2), is currently pondering bidders for its proposed London cable station. A decision is imminent between Associated Newspapers, Mirror Group and a joint bid from Carlton and LWT.

Trade press rumours are that the LWT/ Carlton bid has been rejected and that Associated are the favourite to land the contract. However sales director of United Artists (a member of the consortium) Melvyn Lewis, told MediaTel today that the decision was still very much in the air. The new station is due to go live in the Spring of 1994.
