It has been confirmed that Associated Newspapers has won the contract to supply a London based cable television channel.
Associated Newspapers, with its partner SelecTV hope to launch the channel by early next year. Channel One aims to broadcast 4-5 hours of original news, entertainment and sport programming each day, as well as archive material. Associated has an 80% stake in the project, with SelecTV owning the remaining 20%. Associated Newspapers said yesterday that they saw Channel One as the first step in establishing a fifth national channel.
