London Licence Bidder Reveals Schedule

Liberty Broadcasting’s Rocket FM, one of the twenty five bidders for the new Greater London FM licence, has revealed the schedule it hopes will make it successful.

Rocket says it is dedicated to “rock music, rock fans and rock culture”, broadcasting 24 hours a day with 80% of each airtime hour devoted to music. 10% of the total music content will showcase emerging rock talent. The programming for the new station includes:

  • 10, 9, 8, 7…” (daily 0600-1000): music-led morning drivetime show offering listeners “a real alternative to the chat frenzy of other music stations”. Essential news and sport will be confined to a 90-second slot on the hour plus a Music News update on the half-hour.
  • My Generation (Saturday 1600-1700): guest presenters recall how rock music changed their life.
  • Studio 104.9 (weekdays 1900-2200): primetime for 18-24 year olds including new music, gig guides, rock info and live sessions.
  • The AR Show (Sunday 1900-2200): Alternative rock slot.
  • The Net (weekdays 1300-1600): Listeners choose the music by phone, fax, e-mail or Internet.
