London News Radio is aiming to extend its format to Scotland with the launch of Scottish Radio News.
The station, whose shareholders include ITN, Reuters and GWR, is applying to the Radio Authority which is advertising a licence in the area. LNR has also applied to the Authority to launch North-East News Radio.
Nigel Reeve, managing director of LNR, said: “Our station will target the 25-54 aged ABC1 market in Scotland. Currently commercial radio does not have a regional news/speech station in this area, and while we are carrying out research to determine the specifics of programming early indicators show a tremendous demand from listeners and advertisers alike.”
