Quarter 4 Rajar figures show that people are listening to Capital Radio for less time: while the station’s weekly reach increased slightly from 37% (3,604,000) to 39% (3,885,000), the share of listening dropped from 25.9% in Q4 1994 to 22.8% in Q4 1995. Capital FM had an 18.6% share of listening in quarter 4 last year, compared to 17.1% in 1995 and Capital Gold recorded a similar loss, dropping from 7.3% to 5.7%.

Kiss FM continues to perform well: the station’s weekly reach has increased from 8% (757,000) to 9% (929,000) and its total hours have increased from 4,761,000 (2.7%) to 6,524,000 (3.4%). London Radio (comprising London News 97.3 FM and London Newstalk 1152 AM) has fared quite badly in quarter 4: its weekly reach has fallen from 10% (1,030,000) to 9% (856,000) and its share of listening has decreased from 6% (10,536,000 hours) to 3.9% (7,380,000 hours). Spectrum International’s loss of listeners continues with 90,000 deserting the station (294,000 listeners in Q4 1994 compared to 204,000 in Q4 1995). London Greek Radio is new to the survey and has recorded a weekly reach of 2% with 71,000 hours (0.4%).
