Lord Puttnam Replaces Sacked Bertelsmann CEO At GEITF

Lord Puttnam, the chairman of the Joint Committee on the draft Communications Bill, is to deliver this year’s Worldview Address at the Guardian International Television Festival (GEITF).

Puttnam will be replacing Thomas Middelhoff, the now ex-chairman and chief executive of Bertelsmann AG (see Bertelsmann Chief To Present Worldview At GEITF).

GEITF advisory chair and joint MD of Tiger Aspect Productions, Charles Brand, said: “In the wake of Lord Puttnam’s select committee report on the broadcasting bill there is no one better qualified to speak on British TV relationship’s with the US and the rest of Europe.”

The address is scheduled to take place on the 25th August at 2pm. Lord Puttnam will discuss the relationship between the European and American film and television industries. He will also address the controversial issues of foreign media ownership and government media regulation.
