Lord Ryder Announced As BBC Vice Chair

Lord Richard Ryder of Wensum has been appointed vice chairman of the BBC, the Prime Minister’s office has announced today.

Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell commented on the appointment: “Lord Ryder’s background and experience make him highly suitable for the post and will help ensure that the new chairman, Gavyn Davies (see Davies Announced As New BBC Chairman), has the support he needs to steer the BBC through future changes.”

It has also been announced that Dame Pauline Neville-Jones has been reappointed international governor at the BBC for another two years, while Roger Spencer Jones will spend a further year as national governor for Wales.
