Lottery Viewing Plummets
BBC1’s Lottery show on Saturday evening recorded its lowest ever audience, according to unofficial overnight data. The programme was watched by 6.2m, giving it a 31% audience share. This compares to ITV’s 8.8m, or 43% share, for the final of Stars in their Eyes. The Lottery broadcast normally gets an audience of around 11 million. Press reports this morning suggest that the low figure may be due to a public “boycott” of the Lottery due to the row over Camelot bosses’ large pay cheques. Good weather may also have been a contributory factor.
