L!Ve TV Announces Expansions
L!VE TV, the cable only channel famous for its News bunny and topless darts has announced expansion plans. It is to launch a series of City TV stations across Britain.
The first will be Liverpool L!ve which will go to air on November 1st. Edinburgh L!ve launches a month later. Early in 1997 L!ve TV will launch in Newcastle, Bristol and the Black Country. The format will be local news on the hour for 30 minutes, throughout the day; the second half of each hour will be the entertainment programming from the London HQ.
As well as the confirmed stations, L!ve is in detailed talks to launch in Manchester, Glasgow, East Midlands, Yorkshire and Thames Valley. L!ve also says it is looking at a unique way of providing customised local services to cable subscribers in London.
Kelvin MacKenzie, Managing Director of Mirror Television, said, “We believe that City TV remains the most exciting prospect in British television.”
Each City TV operation will employ around 30 people.
