L!ve TV, the London-based cable channel owned by Mirror Group has confirmed that it has signed a deal with Trinity International to form Liverpool Live, a cable channel for Merseyside.
Liverpool Live will be the third affiliate of Mirror Group’s Live TV; the others being Birmingham (in association with Midland Independent Newspapers) and Westminster. The launch of Liverpool Live is believed to be in September, but more details will be available soon. The channel will be able to make use of Trinity’s Liverpool Echo and Daily Post. It is also rumoured that Live TV will launch in Glasgow, where the Mirror publishes the Daily Record and has a stake in STV.
Associated Newspapers’ Channel One is believed to be interested in expanding to the Wolverhampton area; it has already announced plans to broadcast in the Bristol and Bath area.
