Lycos Secures British Airways Promotion

Lycos UK has secured a £250,000 online and offline promotional deal with British Airways.
The campaign, which aims to increase forward bookings for British Airways, will feature ads on Lycos UK, as well as permission based SMS, email marketing and chat sponsorship.
Lycos is in discussion with external sites including Guardian Unlimited, E-Bay, Bargain Holidays and This Is Travel, to participate in the promotion, which begins next week. There will also be an offline promotion on perimeter boards during the forthcoming Manchester United versus Newcastle match, which will be televised.
It is hoped the campaign will also increase Lycos UK’s user-base, Alex Kovach, managing director of Lycos UK and Ireland, commented: “We see this as being a opportunity for online to prove itself as an advertising medium, but it is also a huge opportunity for Lycos UK to build a significant amount of incremental market share.”
The media agency behind the campaign is i-Traffic and Lycos UK’s in-house design team are behind the creatives.
Last month Lycos secured a deal with BT to promote its high-speed broadband internet service to its four million customers (see Lycos Links With BT To Promote Broadband).
