Magic 105.4 Appoints New Programme Director

Radio Bauer Media has appointed Pete Simmons as programme director at Magic 105.4.

Simmons has been the network programme director, GCap Media, responsible for group programming in London and coordinating production with other One network stations.

Simmons said: “I am hugely excited to be joining Magic 105.4, London’s number one commercial radio station, and working with the Magic team to deliver further expansion of the Magic brand in London and Nationally.

“I believe the core of good radio is in the detail of the music, presentation, and production and am looking forward to evolving the broadcast sound for Magic and continuing to grow the audience reach and hours.”

Mark Story, MD Magic 105.4, said: “We are delighted to welcome Pete Simmons to Magic and Bauer Media. His enormous experience and programming talent make him a true radio heavyweight and fitting to be programmer of London’s No. 1 commercial radio station.

“This position drew applications from radio’s very finest programmers but Pete’s skills for working with great on air talent and his commercial insight put him well out in front. I’m very excited to work with him again.”

Simmons joins Magic 105.4 on 10 November 2008 and will report direct to Mark Story.

The latest RAJAR figures, for the second quarter of 2008, show that Magic 105.4 had a weekly reach in London of more than two million listeners (see Magic Races Ahead as Top Station In London).

RAJAR data for Q3 2008 is released on Thursday and there will be in-depth coverage and analysis on NewsLine.
