Maiden Reaps Success Of Outdoor Boom
Maiden Outdoor reported a sales increase of 30% in its interim results today, as predicted earlier this year (see Maiden Expects To Be Bowled Over By First Half Results). Pre-tax profits improved to £5.2m in the six month period to the end of June, compared to a loss of £0.9m for the same period last year.
CEO Ron Zeghibe said: “Record sales and profits for this period…reflect a resurgence in demand for the 48-sheet format and strong performances across all our other panel sizes.”
This year has so far been a good one for the whole outdoor sector, which has been out-performing all other media types (see Feature: Mini-boom Predicted For Outdoor Advertising), and Zeghibe expects the momentum to continue in the second half. “The investment made by the group in recent years are providing a robust platform for growth. Maiden’s market-leading positions, in all the outdoor sectors in which we operate, give us a strong position to enjoy the benefits of a market with good growth prospects,” he said.
A continued period of expansion marked the first half for the group with a series of acquisitions in the large format, including HG Vasey Poster Advertising (see Maiden Buys Outdoor Contractor HG Vasey), strengthening its national coverage.
