Man United Channel Confirmed
After much speculation Manchester United today confirmed that it will be launching its own TV channel in partnership with Granada and BSkyB.
The digital channel, to be called MUTV, will be a subscription service and is scheduled to launch in Autumn 1998. It will broadcast six hours per-day in prime-time.
The channel will offer live and recorded coverage of Manchester United matches at youth and reserve level, plus friendlies and tour matches as well as games from United’s past. MUTV is barred from showing live or recorded Premiership games due to BSkyB’s deal with the FA. Other programming will include interviews with players and staff as well as news and a ‘fanzine’ strand.
BSkyB: 0171 705 3000
