Last night’s Champion’s League Final between Manchester United and Bayern Munich proved to be a ratings winner for ITV. According to unofficial figures released by the Network Centre, a peak audience of 18.8 million people watched United steal the match with virtually the last kick. The average audience for the match was 15.5 million.
Last night’s audience figures seal a good week for ITV Sport. Saturday’s FA Cup final saw United’s victory over Newcastle gain a peak audience of 11.2 million. The average audience across the whole match was 9.7 million – two million more than last year.
The match was also broadcast live on Sky Sports 2. According to the ITV Network’s figures, 1.2 million people watched the game on Sky.
