Manchester United Relaunch Official Website

Manchester United Football Club announced today that it is launching its new official website at www.manutd.com.

The site has been designed for the club by Trans World International (TWI), with Lotus, Sun Microsystems and Informix contributing their various expertise. The site requires no subscription fee, and has apparently been designed solely with Manchester United supporters in mind – wherever they may be in the world.

As well as featuring up-to-date news and features, match reports and player profiles, the site will also enable visitors to purchase official merchandise from the club’s online megastore.

Martin Edwards, chairman of Manchester United Football Club, commented:”We have a very powerful team working on Manutd.com and aim to deliver a site that supporters all around the world can enjoy.”

This new site replaces one originally run by Sky. Both Manchester United and Sky made headlines earlier in the year when Sky offered £625 million to takeover the club (see Newsline). The Office Of Fair Trading, currently considering the takeover bid, recently extended the time needed for the process after a high number of complaints from fans (see Newsline).
