Manns Joins Starcom MediaVest In Group Head Role

Derek Manns, out of home and radio director for Starcom Motive’s investment unit, has been appointed as the new group head of radio, cinema and outdoor at sister company Starcom MediaVest.
The new position will see Manns work alongside Matthew Blackborn, executive buying director at Starcom MediaVest, to create and develop the company’s recently launched out of home investment unit.
Manns joined Starcom Motive in 2000 as a planner and buyer working on the McDonald’s account, where he led the strategic development of its out-of-home communications. In 2002 he was promoted to out of home UK buying manager and worked across a number of key accounts including Heinz, Honda and Levi’s.
Commenting on the appointment, Blackborn said: “We’re delighted that Derek is moving across to the investment unit at Starcom Mediavest. We have an exciting line up of talent and Derek brings both enthusiasm and a depth of knowledge across key media.
He added: “Having individuals with experience across different disciplines is a huge advantage as the market increasingly positions itself to compete across media platforms.”
Last year Starcom Mediavest London appointed Nigel Foote to the position of group strategy director, with responsibility for providing planning solutions across the agency’s entire client portfolio (see Mediavest Appoints Foote As Group Strategy Director).
