Terry Mansfield, the former managing director of The National Magazine Company, has announced his intention to step down as president and chief executive after 34 years at the publisher.
Mansfield will bring an end to distinguished career at the end of this year, but will continue in a consultancy role for Hearst Corporation, looking at development opportunities and talent spotting across the UK and Europe.
Duncan Edwards, managing director of Natmags, commented: “Terry is a legend in magazine publishing in the UK and as managing director of Natmags between 1982 and 2001 created one of the most admired stable of magazines and respected companies in the business. He also created an environment which has attracted the best and most creative people to want to work for Natmags.”
He continued: “I am delighted that Terry has agreed to accept this consultancy and thus stay closely associated with the group. It will be great to continue to have access to his ideas, knowledge and address book.”
Commenting on his decision, Mansfield said: “I am pleased to be continuing my association with The Hearst Corporation and my friends at Natmags now that my formal role as an executive is coming to an end. I am very much looking forward to being able to help the company continue its development here in the UK and elsewhere from my new position.”
Natmags recently announced the appointment of Sharon Douglas to the role of director of consumer sales and marketing. Douglas joins from Highbury House Communications where she currently holds the position of circulation director (see Natmags Poaches Highbury’s Douglas For Sales Role).
