Maxim Celebrates 100th Issue With Special Edition
![]()
Dennis Publishing is producing a bumper special edition of Maxim this month to celebrate the 100th issue of the magazine.
The special edition will feature an LP album-style cover, with 100 different covers from the past seven years on the sleeve. The magazine will also contain a range of prints of the biggest stars ever to appear in the men’s lifestyle magazine.
The bumper issue will feature a £100,000 give-away, which will offer readers the opportunity to win a variety of prizes including holidays, trainers and beer.
The men’s magazine market has faced a tough time over the past few years and has attracted a great deal of criticism for failing to move with the times. The latest set of ABC results suggest that some stability could be returning to the market, but circulations are far from the levels they reached in the mid-nineties.
The latest ABC results for the period ending December 2002 show that Maxim’s circulation declined by 9.6% year on year to 250,119, despite a revamp late last year designed to bring it back in line with its core readership (see Maxim Redesigned For Core Readership).
The men’s market appears to be taking steps to appeal to a wider audience and Peter Howarth, former editor of Esquire, recently launched Dad magazine for expectant fathers (see Former Esquire Editor Launches Magazine For Dads).
