Media And Marketing Jobs Top Choice For Graduates
![]()
Jobs in marketing and media have overtaken jobs in consulting as the most sought after by graduates, according to new research. The annual UK graduates survey, details of which appear in today’s Independent, found that 13% of graduates expressed an interest in careers in these areas, down from 14% in 2001 for marketing and 13.9% for media, but ahead of last year’s most popular choice, management consulting, which interested 15.5% of graduates surveyed last year, but only 12.9% this year.
The report, produced by High Fliers Research Ltd, surveyed over 13,000 students in their final year of study at university. Investment banking, teaching and accountancy were also found to be popular areas of graduate interest, but IT and charity work jobs have lost ground. The survey also found that there is greater pessimism about job prospects among this year’s graduates and increased levels of debt.
