This year’s Media Research Group conference in Madrid kicked off yesterday, with a retrospective look at the progress made in its 40 year history before the podium was opened to three days of research presentations from some of the industry’s most respected figures.
Delivering a rather rose-tinted presentation on the Group’s achievements, Neil Shepherd-Smith, the MRG’s last remaining original member, outlined its development over the past four decades.
The MRG has grown spectacularly from its humble beginnings in 1964, with its ranks swelling from 22 members at its birth, to 802 at present. However, the important and influential role played by the group in critiquing the industry’s research papers was underlined by Shepherd-Smith, who delivered a plea for continued support from industry insiders to ensure continued longevity.
This year’s conference will hear from, amongst others, Antony Young, CEO of Zenith Optimedia, Kevin Dundas, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi UK and Richard Silman, CEO of Ipsos UK, in addition to the unveiling of several research studies, including an update on the long awaited IPA Touchpoints Survey.
MediaTel NewsLine will be reporting live from Madrid with the latest from each day’s speakers as they deliver their presentations.
