Adrian Walcott has been chosen as MediaCom UK’s first external board advisor.
Walcott starts in his consulting role immediately and joins the WPP agency’s 12-person executive committee board.
Walcott co-founded Brands with Values, a training and consultancy business that helps leaders make change in diversity and inclusion, as well as business transformation and employee engagement.
He is also the co-founder of BAME 2020, a social enterprise that aims to be a catalyst to attract, retain and grow young BAME talent and work towards a proportional representation within the marketing and media workforce. Its aim is for 20% of senior marketing talent to come from a BAME background.
Walcott’s position at MediaCom is focussed on “culture, inclusion and business transformation”, and avoiding “group think”.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining a board that doesn’t just share my values around people first, but is actively holding itself to account on the role culture play’s in driving meaningful and sustainable transformation.”
MediaCom said its UK executive committee already has a 50/50 split to “champion diversity”.
Last year the WPP media agency launched an inclusive media planning commitment, where reaching diverse audiences will be a feature of all its work for advertisers.
