Men’s Health, the new male health and fitness title, launched yesterday from Rodale Press. Bi-monthly, the glossy title with a cover price of £1.95 has 132 pages.

Editorially the first issue covers sport and style as well as just fitness and health, and has the feel of a woman’s general interest glossy monthly, including a section at the beginning of short health and style tips. Features include how to cope when she leaves you, Michael Schumacher’s fitness how to maintain a healthy love life, how to win an argument, and other more typical fitness issues such as an annual fitness programme, a healthy diet and male health checks.

The title is aimed at ABC1 professional men aged 25-44 “who care about their appearance and are meticulous about the quality of the products that they buy”

Men’s Health is the largest circulation men’s lifestyle title in the US, outselling GQ by 500,000 copies per issue in the States. Men’s Health in the UK however has a British editorial team. The male lifestyle magazine sector was the largest growing sector in the latest round of ABCs, and Men’s Health is not the only new title to launch. XL, a male magazine focussing on sports and fitness is launching in February.
