Channel 5 confirmed that its weekend sports contract has been awarded to Meridian. According to speculation the deal is worth approximately £10,000 for shows on Saturday mornings and Sunday evenings. A spokesman from Meridian said the contract will be handled by MACh 1, the consortium comprising of Meridian, Anglia and Chrysalis Sports. Although details are vague, Channel 5 will make further announcements in November.
Yesterday, MACh 1 were also awarded the Formula One production contract for ITV in 1997 *(MACh 1 Gets F1 Contract).
