Metro Review
The Independent has today launched its new weekly section Metro, which replaces the daily London section launched in May. Like the old section Metro is a tabloid carrying editorial and listings for the London region but comprises 32 pages compared to the Daily section’s 16 pages.
Today’s issue is made up of 8 pages of editorial and features, 8 pages of entertainment listings and 14 pages of TV listings for the London region. The editorial includes a guide to eating out for under £20, the Step-by-Step Guide to London (charting a walk in the Highgate area), a feature on football commentators and a review of the Deutsche Romantik season at the South Bank.
There are no full page ads except for the back page which is taken by the ‘Independence Card’. The only other ads in Metro are for Smirnoff (colour) and Bicyclexpo (mono), both are approximately quarter pages.
