Mirror Group Newspapers has appointed Clare Dove as its new Director of Advertising.
Dove, who will take up the position in January next year, will have responsibility for the ad sales operations of the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and the People. She will report to Ellis Watson, General Manager of Mirror Group Newspapers.
Prior to joining the Mirror, Dove was group advertising director at IPC Southbank, where she was responsible for seventeen titles, including Marie Claire, Homes & Gardens, Woman & Home and In Style.
During 15 years in the media industry, Clare has worked for various organisations including the Guardian Newspaper Group and Capital Radio.
Commenting on her appointment, Ellis Watson, general manager of Mirror Group Newspapers, said: “Clare is a highly talented and experienced media executive, with an outstanding track record in advertising sales management. Her skills, drive and vision will be key assets as our national sales operation goes forward.”
Dove added: “Trinity Mirror’s national titles are huge brands and it’s a real privilege to be leading their ad sales team. I can’t wait to take up the challenge.”
In the meantime, venture capital firm 3i has emerged as favourite to buy Trinity Mirror’s Irish newspapers, which were put up for sale in July. The bid has the support of former Mirror Group chief executive David Montgomery (see Suitors Line Up For Trinity’s Irish Titles).
