Michael Jackson Appointed Director of Television

Michael Jackson, Controller of BBC2 Television has been appointed to the new post of Director of Television, which he will combine with the Controllership of BBC1. He takes over as BBC1 Controller when the current Controller, Alan Yentob, moves to be Director of Programmes.

Michael Jackson, 38, has been Controller of BBC2 since April 1993; he was the second youngest Channel Controller ever at the BBC.
