Microsoft to offer second screen viewing via Xbox & SmartGlass

Games console Xbox is introducing an app that could allow content from BBC iPlayer or 4oD to be viewed seamlessly as consumers switch between second screen devices and TV.

Microsoft’s SmartGlass app will allow viewers to stream a show via any mobile or tablet while away from their games console. They can then transfer the video onto their TV via the Xbox from the point at which they left off viewing.

Originally announced at Microsoft’s pre-E3 press conference back in June, the app will be available to download to any mobile device, giving consumers a new kind of interactivity when watching on demand contend on the Xbox.
