Microsoft To Trial WebTV With BT
Microsoft has announced that BT will be the internet service provider for the UK trials of WebTV, the service which will allow people to access the internet via their TV sets.
The trial, to begin later this month, will involve a cross section of UK households and will aim to gain technical, marketing and operational knowledge of the marketplace. It is expected to last for around five months. The set-top boxes for the venture will be supplied by Pace and Philips.
Microsoft’s WebTV service in the United States currently has around 300,000 subscribers.
