Mirror Favourite As Independent Saviour
According to a report in the Guardian today, Mirror Group Newspapers has emerged as the favourite to sign a rescue deal with Newspaper Publishing, publisher of the Independents, having offered the best deal so far.
A likely deal, suggests The Guardian, would be MGN having a 25% stake, at a cost of between £10m and £15m. There could also be cooperation in printing and distribution.
However the board remains split over rescue plans.
