Mirror Group, itself currently at the centre of takeover discussions (see Bidding War Expected To Surround Mirror Group), has today announced the acquisition of Glasgow-based magazine publisher, First Press.
First Press publishes a number of sports-related titles including the weekly Rangers News. Following the deal, which was negotiated by the Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail Ltd., First Press’ 40 staff will move to the Record‘s Anderton Quay offices.
Mark Hollinshead, managing director of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail, says: “First Press is an excellent business that will not only provide us with a good return on investment but will form the foundations for further growth in magazines in other specialist areas.” The value of the acquisition was not disclosed by Mirror Group.
The Mirror Group currently publishes consumer and business magazines through its Inside Communications subsidiary.
