The Mirror Group has today announced that it is to go into partnership with the internet provider Zip2. The deal is part of the expansion of Mirror Group’s internet activities, with a view to enhancing their growth potential in regional and local media services.
The deal will make Mirror Group the first European company to use the Zip2 Homebase service. The service aims to create a one-stop-shop internet portal – a user friendly gateway to local, regional and national media services.
Commenting on the deal, chief executive of Mirror Group John Allwood said: “This will ensure that we not only stay ahead of the our traditional competitors, but also establish a sustainable market leadership over the new generation of digital competitors, before they gain a foothold in local UK markets.”
The Mirror Group recently announced that it was planning to launch a free internet service provision (see Newsline).
