![]()
The Mirror has launched a text information service which will allow subscribers to receive breaking news stories, showbiz gossip and football news via their mobile phones.
The service, called Instant Mirror, is being sold through the Carphone Warehouse stores and website. A payment of £5.99 will mean users receive text alerts over 30 days from activation. The football fans package allows users to choose to receive alerts about their own club and will include team news, goal alerts and half-time and full-time scores from the major leagues.
Piers Morgan, the editor of the Mirror described text messaging as “the single biggest growth area in telecoms” and said he was delighted that his paper would now be delivering headlines “straight into our users’ pockets.”
