Mirror Rejoins Complaints Body
Mirror Group Newspapers last night rejoined the Press Complaints Commission, withdrawing any criticisms they had made of the PCC or Lord McGregor, its chairman. Lord McGregor in return withdrew his remarks urging advertisers to boycott the paper.
Peter Brooke last night warned the press that it has to demonstrate that it will respect and abide by its own rules, suggesting they consider a voluntary ombudsman. He warned that the government would take into account “the failure that has occurred” when examining the privacy issue.
