Mobil Extends British Rally Championship Sponsorship

The British Rally Championship has received a boost, with news that Mobil intends to continue its sponsorship of the event for at least another three years, until the end of the year 2000.

Following the decision to base the championship on two litre, two-wheel drive cars the event has grown from strength to strength with eight manufacturers now taking part. John Quenby, chief executive of the RAC Motor Sports Association commented: “I am delighted to have the continuing support of our main sponsor for what has become perhaps the most hotly contested national rally championship in the world. This is a wonderful demonstration of confidence in the Mobil 1 British Rally Championship”.

Peter White, Mobil sponsorship manager, said: “The British Rally Championship seems to grow in stature and popularity every year. It is very pleasing to be receiving such strong support from car manufacturers. I believe this is the best vote of confidence the championship can get”.
