The BBC has announced that the third weekly episode of EastEnders is to be screened on Monday evenings at 8.00pm from April 11. The 8.00pm slot means that the BBC has avoided clashing with Coronation Street. Each episode of EastEnders is currently achieving an audience of between 15 and 16m, while Coronation Street achieves 18m.
The BBC is currently screening a Question of Sport in the 8.00pm slot on Mondays, this achieves an audience of around 7.5m. The third EastEnders episode will compete against ITV’s Talking Telephone Numbers and Channel 4’s Brookside.
The Tuesday and Thursday episodes of EastEnders will remain in their 7.30 pm slot.
