According to a report in today’s Evening Standard chief executive of Mirror Group Newspapers, David Montgomery is making definite plans to set up a satellite news channel for London as a rival to Sky News. If plans reach fruition the channel will be in direct competition with London News Network although the latter has an added advantage of being able to draw items from an existing network of news and sports reporters. MGN is refusing to comment on the plans.
