METRO RADIO INCREASES PROFITS

Metro Radio Group has increased pre-tax profits by 27% to £2.36m in the year to September 30.

The group, which operates seven radio stations in Yorkshire and north-east England, attributed this success to increasing interest in radio as an advertising medium and signs of consumer confidence returning.

Advertising revenue rose by 17% to £14.7m. Growth areas in advertising demand were motor manufacturers and dealers and retailers of furniture.
