More Group Gives Gamers Sneak Preview With State-of-the-Art Screen

More Group gave gamers a sneak preview of the new Playstation 2 software last week when it unveiled its giant LED screen in London’s Leicester Square. Broadcasting 30ft high images of the new console and its games for 3 minutes every hour, the site is currently the largest and the most advanced high-resolution screen in Europe.

Sony built up a gradual presence on the site from Monday onwards in the countdown to the launch of the new Playstation software on Friday. The special previews included three live gaming sessions on Wednesday and Friday and Sony also organised for 2 gamers to play the new software while sitting on sofas in front of the screen, fuelling media interest in the launch.

David Wilson, head of PR at Sony, said: “The sheer impact and location of the LED has provided an excellent opportunity to bring Sony Playstation 2 to a key consumer audience during its launch phase. The LED’s advanced technology also provided a synergy with the image of Playstation 2 console – futuristic and exciting. The broadcast has created a host of PR opportunities for Sony and we are very pleased with the result.”

The 67sq.m curved screen provides up to 10 minutes of advertising every hour, whether that be video, internet, static images or multimedia.
