Motoring Press Round-Up

With the last of the motoring sector’s ABCs in, the weekly market on the whole has seen some changes due to the launch of Emap’s Carweek. Carweek, with its first ABC for the three months to December 1993 being 80,229 has taken a significant 10% share of the weeklies market. The market leader by a long way, Auto Trader with 49% of the market, increased its ABC by 4.1% to 378,985. Autosport also increased its circulation figure, by 3% to 55,081. The worst performance came from Auto Express, decreasing its circulation by 19.6% to 93,413.

Auto Express seems to have suffered the most by the launch of Carweek dropping market share from 16% pre-Carweek to 12% now. All other titles do appear to have suffered slightly from Carweek’s influence as well however, with each dropping market share by at least 1%.
