MP Calls For Magazine Curbs

Age restraints could be imposed on teenage magazines, it is reported, if the wishes of a Tory MP are taken into account. Peter Luff, the Tory MP for Worcester, is to introduce a Bill to enforce new curbs on teenage magazines.

The Bill has come about following the recent furore surrounding advice given in an agony column about oral sex. The Bill will aim to introduce certification controls, like those for cinema films, which would establish a recommended age limit for certain magazines. It is believed that Ministers are concerned about teenage magazines, and Mr Luff hopes his Bill, whilst unlikely to lead to legislation directly may be the start of a campaign.
