MTV Launches New Magazine

MTV Launches New Magazine

MTV Europe has teamed up with US magazine publisher Ray Gun in a deal that will produce the channel’s first youth culture and lifestyle magazine, entitled BLAH BLAH BLAH. Conceptualised by Marvin Scott Jarrett, the owner of Ray Gun, in association with MTV Europe, the new magazine will be launched in the UK on 14 March. There are plans to produce local language versions for other European markets.

With a planned print run of 120,000, BLAH BLAH BLAH will have a cover price of £2.50 and is aimed at 18-25 year olds. It will take advantage of all the behind-the-scenes news and information which is exclusively available via MTV. Editorial content will be 70 per cent music related and 30 per cent lifestyle features, such as style, ‘extreme’ sports and technology.

Research has shown that MTV’s viewers see the launch as a natural progression for the MTV brand. Advertisers are expected to react to the launch favourably. Ad sales for BLAH BLAH BLAH will be handled by teams at both Ray Gun Publishing and MTV Europe. It will be distributed by Seymour.
