The cable industry is planning a multimedia trial of 4,000 homes in the UK. Nynex, one of the largest cable TV companies in the UK is expected to host the trial, in the North West of England. It will test services ranging from interactive home shopping to betting on horses. The company has already announced plans to invest £1.1bn in developing an information “superhighway” linking its TV franchises in and around Manchester.
