Murdoch US TV Threat Lifted
The US Federal Communications Commission has unanimously ruled that Rupert Murdoch’s US television empire consisting of eight stations is in the public interest.
The ruling frees Murdoch to buy more networks, which he was prevented from doing during the two year course of the investigation. The ruling was expected, but an adverse decision would have caused problems for Murdoch. The focal worry for Murdoch was removed in May when the FCC decided he had not misled the authorities over the foreign ownership of his stations at the time he bought them.
