MXR And Jazz FM To Promote Digital Radio

Digital radio group MXR and Jazz FM are launching an initiative to promote DAB digital radio in the UK.

MXR has secured a marketing partnership with Jazz FM, which will see CD’s sold by Jazz Enterprises, a division of Jazz FM, carry sleeve information promoting the availability of digital radio through out the UK. The first CD will be released in February and Jazz FM expects over a million copies to be sold.

MXR’s marketing director, said: “This is another pioneering way to market digital radio. Some early segmentation work highlighted Jazz FM listeners as early adopters of the DAB digital radio, so this initiative should prove to be very effective targeting.”

The MXR consortium is made up of Chrysalis Radio, Capital Radio, Guardian Media Group, Soul Media, Spectrum Radio International, UBC Media, Psion and Ford.

Digital radio received a boost last week when the Digital Radio Group launched its DAB digital radio services for London, bringing eleven new digital stations to a potential 8.5 million listeners in the capital (see DRG Rolls Out Services In London).
