MXR Secures Comet For Digital Radio Promotion

Digital radio consortium, MXR, has announced a month long promotional partnership with Comet in an effort to further drive the take up of digital radio.

The partnership will include promotional activity across MXR’s analogue radio partners, including Heart FM, Jazz FM and the century network encouraging listeners to visit Comet stores.

There will also be in-store promotion, with MXR’s ‘Digital Crews’ offering free demonstrations of the latest DAB digital radio hardware, and sampling the exciting new range of stations available to digital listeners.

In addition, Comet will be running an in-store competition, offering those who sample the hardware and stations, the chance to win the very latest handheld portable digital radio.

Diane Wray, marketing director at MXR, commented; “We are delighted to have put this partnership in place with Comet. With such strong support from the consortium’s radio partners, we have no doubt that this promotion will put DAB digital radio firmly on the map in these regions.”

Sales of DAB digital radios increased by 165% in 2002 and look set to more than double in 2003, according to the Digital Radio Development Bureau (DRDB) (see Sales Of DAB Digital Radios Boom In 2002).
