Following Rupert Murdoch’s announcement at the company AGM last week that they are spending millions of dollars on developing on-line services and new technologies, News International has announced that it is to acquire the Advanced Products Division (APD) of National Transcommunications Ltd (NTL).
The purchase has been made through the News Corporation’s technology arm, News Technology Group, and the new company will be called Digi-Media Vision Ltd.
Dr Greg Clarke, president of the News Corporation’s technology companies worldwide said: ‘The addition of Digi-Media Vision Ltd to our UK companies will provide an excellent platform for development.”
NTL is the UK’s largest broadcast transmission and telecommunications company; providing radio and television transmission, satellite linking and programme distribution. The APD division was formed in 1992 to meet specific needs for high-technology products in the visual communications market.
